    Information session showcasing real-life case study examples on how companies and organizations can optimally defend themselves against ever-changing cybersecurity threats and strengthen the protection and privacy of their organization’s data.  

    Panelists include: 

    Danny Timmins, CISSP, National Cyber Security Leader, MNP
    Danny is the National Cyber Security Leader at MNP and a partner in the firm’s Enterprise Risk Services team. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience, Danny leads an experienced, highly skilled cyber security team in the delivery of customized, client-focused cyber security managed services, product solutions and professional services. Danny’s expertise includes working with executives and boards to assist with the development of prioritized and strategic cyber security strategies. By focusing on deliverables that fit clients’ unique business needs and objectives, he helps organizations improve awareness and reduce and manage overall cyber risk. Danny sits on the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) Cyber Security Council, working to further cyber security with Canada. Danny holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) designation.

    Alfred Lai M.Sc. (Infosec), CD, plsc, pcsc
    Alfred is an alumnus of Ryerson University. A practitioner of Cyber Security, Information Assurance and Project Management for over seventeen years. He has a background in Civil Engineering, Computer Networking, Telecommunications and Cyber Security. He holds a Certificate in Telecommunications from Ryerson University, a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from York University, Toronto and M.Sc. degrees in Information Systems Security from Royal Holloway College, University of London, U.K. specializing in Cryptography. He is also a graduate of Canadian Army Command and Staff College and Canadian Forces College. He obtained his designation of Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) in 2008. Alfred practices Cyber security in both private and public sectors. He is an instructor at his alma mater; Ryerson University as well as a Senior Research Associate – Cybersecurity at Ryerson’s Network Centric Applied Research Team (N-CART) Laboratory   http://ncart.scs.ryerson.ca/. Alfred is a senior reserve signals officer with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals (RCCS) of the Canadian Army.

    Jeremy MacBean
    Jeremy serves as Director of Marketing and Communications for Konica Minolta’s IT Services Division in Canada; IT Weapons.  After earning his Ph.D. from Western University, he joined the IT Weapons team in 2008. His passion for clear thinking and honest messaging is what drives the company’s communications, marketing, and talent acquisition efforts.  Facing outward, it's about engaging and educating the broader community of Canadian IT professionals, clients, and peers.  Internally, it’s about professional and team development within the company.  Simply put, his team works to ensure that everyone understands what the company does and why they do it.  
    Derrick Costa, I.T. Professional - Cybersecurity Specialist
    Derrick’s passion for computers can be traced back to the early 1980’s, where he spent countless hours hacking away on his Commodore 64. Today, as a Senior Systems Administrator at ACE Systems he helps small and medium businesses navigate the ever-changing technology landscape. Derrick has over 18 years of valuable experience as an I.T. Professional serving several industry verticals for instance, Finance, Insurance, Medical, Legal, Hospitality, Transportation, Manufacturing and Retail to name only a few. Although Derrick has a broad range of technical skills, he is most passionate about InfoSec and Cybersecurity. Derrick truly enjoys sharing what he knows with others and employs that knowledge when helping his clients defend their networks and improve their security posture.
