    Tough times bring tough choices for Brampton’s business community. This week, the Brampton Board of Trade has checked-in with more than 500 companies regarding the impact of the global pandemic. More ‘check-in’ connections continue. What we are hearing is that the choices business are making are difficult, but necessary to keep viable.     Our government is prepared to do whatever it takes to help small businesses and all Canadians get through this challenging time. Yesterday, the Prime Minister announced that – as part of our government’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan – we will provide up to $27 billion in direct support to Canadian workers and businesses, plus an additional $55 billion to support Canadian businesses and households through tax deferrals.     The Canadian Chamber of Commerce today issued the following statement regarding the government’s COVID-19 response plan: The government’s initial $1-billion COVID-19 response plan is a positive and pragmatic approach to the global risks of the spreading virus. We welcome the whole of government approach and the close coordination with the business community. The Canadian Chamber is helping to lead the business community’s response to COVID-19 and continues to work together with governments as they develop policy options and tools to help businesses and their employees.     I am astounded at the number of articles that convey the message of digital transformation failing. Some data suggests that up to 80% of transformations are unsuccessful. Now, if I was a leader thinking about digital transformation and conducted some research, I'd likely be scared and forget the idea altogether.
