Making Waves Swim School is dedicated to promoting water safety and learn to swim programs to children all over the Greater Toronto Area. In 2019, they celebrate an admirable 25 years of business and wanted to commemorate this by doing something impactful.
Their company mission is centered on developing children of all ages into confident and lifelong swimmers.
In staying true to this in their Community Outreach practices, it only made sense to offer their highly respected Learn to Swim program to more youth in the Peel community. To that end, Making Waves will be donating 25 Swimming Lesson Packages to a local children’s charity that targets youth who may not have had the opportunity for formal swimming lessons. This is a value of $10,000 that Making Waves is very happy to share with the community.
“As a long time supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel, we are excited to align with them on this social giving initiative. Like them, we also believe in the value of mentoring and are happy to contribute to children's development with our Coach and Swimmer relationship,’ said Tiernan Murphy, owner and founder of Making Waves Swim School. ‘We believe that swimming is a lifelong, and potentially life-saving skill that everybody should learn.'
25 Big Brothers Big Sisters mentees will have the opportunity to take swimming lessons at either the Brampton or Mississauga Making Waves location where they will develop five main swimming strokes that support aquatic safety in, on, and around the water. This program is also designed to increase their fitness and endurance through enjoyable activities and self rescue techniques.
