• Media Release: Brampton Board of Trade Welcomes New Chair and Board of Directors

    Brampton, ON, Nov 23, 2017—The Brampton Board of Trade (BBOT) welcomed Heather Strati as Chair of the 2017 Board of Directors at the Board of Trade's Annual General Meeting. Strati takes over from outgoing chair Evan Moore who served the Board for the 2016-2017 year.

    Strati is a partner at Deloitte Private and has been a member of BBOT for the past decade, acting as an advisor on the Diversity and Inclusion committee and supporting many board initiatives. With over 20 years of experience in accounting, buying and selling businesses, her clients have included manufacturers, retail and consumer businesses, law firms, as well as organizations servicing government infrastructure projects. She brings a wealth of business experience and has passion to see Brampton’s economy prosper. 

    “I truly appreciate all that we do to drive the city, drive the agenda of prosperity, to advocate and to help our members,” said Strati. “It has been a learning experience and I am happy to be giving back.”

    As Brampton’s largest business association, the Board of Trade prides itself in the diversity of its members, volunteers and staff. In keeping with this, BBOT is also excited to welcome a new, diverse group of accomplished individuals from various sectors and business sizes to its Board of Directors:

BBOT is ready to tackle the major waves of change facing businesses in 2018,” said Todd Letts, CEO of the Brampton Board of Trade.

    During his time as Chair, Evan Moore worked with volunteers and staff at the Board of Trade to develop key areas of focus that now drive the organization’s advocacy work.

    “2017 marks the 130th anniversary of our organization. This is a truly significant milestone and a testament to the commitment of the Board, its staff, volunteers, sponsors and the Brampton business community to the goal of economic prosperity,” said Moore. “Truly what we’ve accomplished this year in our role as facilitator was fully embraced and advanced by the Board...2017 was a year of collaboration, we engaged in many significant initiatives that required effective and meaningful collaboration.”

    Moore’s legacy of being a strong voice for the business community will carry the board into its new term. He will continue to serve as chair of the Policy and Government Relations Committee.

    The Board of Trade also thanks outgoing members of the board Badar Shamim and Don Cumming for their diligent service and commitment over the past few years.
