Brampton Board of Trade Welcomes Evan Moore as Chair

Brampton, ON, Nov 16, 2016 —  The business community welcomed Evan Moore as Chair of the 2017 Board of Directors at the Board of Trade's recent annual general meeting. Moore has developed his career as a lawyer at well-known Brampton firm Prouse, Dash and Crouch LLP and has most recently served as Chair of the Brampton Board's Policy and Government Relations Committee.  Moore's core areas of focus for the new year include developing a unified vision for Brampton which positions it as an innovative regional economy with efficient and effective regional transit and transportation.
 
“With a Board of Directors that reflects the diversity and success of Brampton, the Board of Trade is the organization that will facilitate the development of a unified vision for which all stakeholders can champion,” said new Chair Evan Moore in his inaugural address.“Brampton is poised for greatness.” added Todd Letts, CEO as he highlighted many achievements in business advocacy and services to Brampton's business community this past year.
 
The business community also welcomed the 2017 Board of Directors. Returning to the Board are Heather Strati, Don Cumming, Iain McNab, Keith Reardon, Josh Belczyk, Harpreet Zingh, Tina Larsen and Manpreet Mann. Joining them for 2017 are Heather Arthur, Director of Small Business Care at Rogers Communications and Tina Chiu, Chief Operating Officer at Mandarin Corporation.
 
Badar Shamim gave his final address as 2016 Chair to a room full of Board of Trade members, community partners and elected officials. He commended his Board colleagues for a job well done and for the progress made on a number of items, including important strides in international trade resulting in new investment for Brampton.
 
“It has been my pleasure to serve alongside my esteemed colleagues on the Board this past year. I’m optimistic for the future of Brampton” said Badar Shamim. Badar will now assume the role of past-Chair continuing to provide important advice to the business community.

Evan Moore, a long-time volunteer with the Brampton Board of Trade and past-Chair of the Policy and Government Relations Committee, is an associate with  Prouse, Dash & Crouch, LLP, where he practices civil advocacy with a focus in  Commercial Litigation. Evan’s firm supports a number of charities and community organizations in Brampton.


Badar Shamim, Past Chair
Investment Advisor, TD Wealth

A graduate of Brock University’s Honours BBA program, Badar has been employed with the TDBFG for the past 15 years. Badar is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and also holds the Investment Manager (CIM) designation from Canadian Securities Institute and is currently responsible for providing tailored wealth/investment  planning advice to high net worth individuals and businesses with a global  perspective.

Heather Strati, Chair Elect
Deloitte Private, Partner, Assurance & Advisory

Heather Strati is a partner in the Deloitte Private group with over 20 years of experience in the profession.  Heather has experience in various industries, including professional services, public private partnerships (P3s), manufacturing and consumer business.  She has worked with a diverse group of clients ranging from privately held companies of all sizes to large public companies. 


Todd Letts
Chief Executive Officer

Todd’s career has included senior roles in the economic development, finance and business advocacy fields. He has enjoyed over 19 years as an association executive with business organizations such as the Toronto Board of Trade; Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce; Ontario Business Improvement Association, the Ontario division of CME, Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters and most recently, President of the Chamber Executives of Ontario.

Tina Larsen, Vice-chair, International Trade
Owner, PCMF

Tina holds a degree  in business from York University. In 2005 Tina opened PC Metal Fabrications Inc., now recognized as PCMF Inc., a manufacturer of construction equipment. Since opening the doors PCMF has taken great pride in the strength of their processes, which has allowed them to embark on new developments in the construction industry. As one of the top local steel manufacturers, Tina has now launched PCMF into the global market.

Manpreet Mann, Vice-chair, Finance
Branch Manager, BDC

Manny has over 17 years of banking experience with Scotiabank, CIBC and is presently with Business Development Bank of Canada. Manny manages a team of dedicated individuals that are responsible for providing financing and consulting solutions to small and medium growth-oriented companies in Canada. Manny holds a Masters of business Administration from Queens University with a major in Finance and Accounting. 

Don Cumming, Director
Manager, Business Development, TD GTA West Commercial Banking

Don’s career has spanned over 25 years with the TD BFG Group. He has  held various positions in Retail Banking, Corporate Operations and Wealth Management.  For the last six years, he has been a Commercial Banker serving clients in the Brampton community. He has been involved in a number of local charities including the Brampton and Area Community Foundation (BACF).

Harpreet Zingh, Director
Co-founder, LAB B

Harpreet is the co-founder of LAB B, the first youth-led arts and entrepreneurship community hub in Brampton. He oversees day to day operation, programming and builds relationships with external organizations. Harpreet believe that successfully marrying the world of art and business will create impactful social initiatives and major businesses. He is also a member of Mayor Linda Jeffrey’s Blue Ribbon Committee for establishing a university in Brampton as well as a board member of the downtown BIA.

Keith Reardon, Director
Vice President, Intermodal, CN

Keith Reardon was appointed Vice President of Intermodal Services in May 2012, based in Brampton. Keith oversees all aspects of the company’s domestic and international intermodal activities. Passionate about logistics, Keith has more than 20 years of experience in the field; he also held senior positions with outside firms in the world of logistics for a number of years. Keith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and an MBA from the University of North Florida.

Iain McNab, Director
Dean, Faculty of Applied Science & Technology, Sheridan College

Professor Iain McNab grew up in England and attended the University of Sussex, graduating with a BSc in chemical physics and later earned his PhD at Oxford University. Iain has taught courses in chemistry, physics and mathematics at the Universities of Oxford, Southampton, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Toronto, and at Seneca College and Sheridan. He has published over 50 scientific papers in international journals.

Heather Arthur, Director
Director, Small Business Care, Rogers Communications

Heather Arthur has spent years motivating and energizing audiences to take charge of their business and their life. After starting her career in the world of telecommunications, she is now seen as the go-to mentor and coach for individuals and companies that are ready for transformation. With over 19 years of call centre management experience, Heather is an executive at Rogers Communications. As Director of Business Care she supports over 1400 employees across Canada in the Business to Business sector.

Tina Chiu, Director
Chief Operating Officer, Mandarin Corporation

Tina Chiu joined Mandarin Restaurant Franchise Corporation in 2000 and has held various progressive roles within the organization.  As Chief Operating Officer she is responsible for leading the execution of company strategy related to marketing, operations and business development.
Tina has a BA in English Literature from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Masters in Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business at York University. 

Josh Belczyk, Director
General Manager, Zochem Inc

Josh Belczyk is the General Manager of Zochem, Inc, a Horsehead company. Prior to joining Horsehead, he worked with FTI Consulting, Inc. in corporate finance and restructuring and before this position, Josh worked eight years for Bailey-PVS Oxides, LLC, an environmental service and recycling provider to the steel industry, where he last served as a multi-site General Manager. Mr. Belczyk received a BS degree in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Harvard University in 2000 and an MBA from the University of Michigan in 2009.
