2017 Business Excellence Awards Recipients Announced

2017 Business Person of the Year, Mohamad Fakih
 
The Brampton Board of Trade's Business Excellence Awards brought together business leaders to recognize the achievements and contributions of outstanding businesses and businesspeople in Brampton last night.
 
This year, over 400 business leaders from across the region, joined co-hosts Heather Arthur and Nav Nanwa, - in an evening of celebration and entertainment.
 
The night kicked off with cocktails and live music, followed by a full evening honouring recipients in 10 categories. Award recipients have demonstrated success, innovation and passion in their respective fields, distinguishing themselves and their businesses for excellence during this business year. This year's impressive slate of nominees included both small and large businesses and multinational corporations.
 
"Brampton is 'poised for greatness' and with an unprecedented list of nominees, this year's gala celebrated Brampton businesses who are propelling Brampton forward as one of the most innovative cities in the country," says Todd Letts, CEO of the Brampton Board of Trade. "Many of our nominees are pushing boundaries and redefining their respective industries."
 
Of the 50 nominations, The Brampton Board of Trade was delighted to present awards to the following businesses and individuals:
 
Leadership - Coca-Cola
Teamwork - Khanuja Dentistry
Spirit of Innovation - Armacell Canada
Community Impact - JN Asensio
Community Impact (Non-profit) - Rotary Club of Brampton
Mentoring - Razor Creative
International Ambassador - Howard Eng, Toronto Pearson
Chair's Award - Kanwar Dhanjal, Just Instruments
Communications - Brampton Focus
Healthy Workplace - ZGEMI
 
Badar Shamim and Hazel McCallion and Don Cumming on behalf of the event's sponsors TD, were on hand to present the top award of the evening, Business Person of the Year.
 
This year's recipient, Mohamad Fakih, CEO and Founder of Paramount Fine Foods, hosts a number of accomplishments.
 
Among them is Mr. Fakih's successful transformation of a small Lebanese restaurant into an international franchise with 42 stores in Canada and 52 worldwide, with 14 coming soon. 
 
"The Board of Trade is very proud to honour our Business Person of the Year, Mohamad Fakih," says Evan Moore, Chair of the Brampton Board of Trade. "Mr. Fakih is proof that hard work and dedication pays off. His leadership, innovation and example of how business leaders can effectively connect with their respective communities is a true inspiration."
